Lucyna Wozniak Appointed Chairwoman of CRASP Commission for the Presidency and Cooperation with the EU

Alliance4Life proudly congratulates Prof. Lucyna Wozniak, a valued member of our Board of Directors, on her recent appointment as Chairwoman of the Commission for the Presidency and Cooperation with the European Union by the Conference of Rectors of Academic Schools in Poland (CRASP). This prestigious role highlights her dedication to advancing international collaboration and scientific excellence.

Prof. Wozniak serves as Vice-Rector for International Cooperation at the Medical University of Lodz, where she has held this position since 2012. Her extensive expertise in science management and her commitment to fostering international partnerships have made her a respected figure in the academic and scientific communities.

Prof. Wozniak has been deeply involved in various European and international initiatives. She was a member of the Supervisory Board and Strategic Innovation Council of EIT Health and held the position of Chair of the Supervisory Board of EIT Health Innostars. Furthermore, she chaired the Scientific Advisory Board (Life Sciences) of Vrije Universiteit in Brussels and served as a member of the High-Level Council for the Maximization of the Impact of the European Union Framework Programs (Pascal Lamy Group).

In addition to these roles, she is a board member of the European Women Rectors' Association (EWORA) and serves on the EUA task force for the EU Research and Innovation Framework Program. Her remarkable career showcases a lifelong commitment to advancing research, innovation, and science policy at a European level.

Poland is set to assume the Presidency of the Council of the European Union in January 2025, presenting a pivotal opportunity to shape the future of science and higher education across Europe. The key priorities during Poland’s presidency will include the introduction of the European diploma and related documents, the evaluation of the Horizon Europe program—a landmark EU research initiative with a budget of €95.5 billion—and advancing the European Research Area while setting its goals for 2025–2027.

As Chairwoman of this vital CRASP commission, Prof. Wozniak will play a central role in driving these priorities forward. Her appointment guarantees that these efforts will be guided by efficiency, expertise, and a vision for impactful international cooperation.

CRASP represents 110 higher education institutions in Poland, including 11 non-public HEIs and 8 affiliated schools, working to integrate and enhance the national education system while upholding academic values such as autonomy, professional ethics, and accountability. Under Prof. Wozniak's leadership, the Commission for the Presidency and Cooperation with the EU will undoubtedly strengthen Poland's contributions to European science and education during its presidency.
